• "Hey Max," she said giving him a chaste kiss on his cheek and then stepping back. He ran his eyes over her. When was the last time he'd seen her? Talked to her? It had to be after Zander's funeral when she told him she was leaving. He couldn't remember what she'd said exactly, just that she needed to leave.
• "Gwen, when did you get back?" he moved to hug her properly but she took another step back away from him then TC was standing between them, asking how he was.
• "I hope we're not too late. Has the party started? Goodness, I'm thirsty. Where can I find a glass of water?" he knocked once then pushed the door open "Hey, do you want a drink?" he asked practically dragging Gwen inside. Max blinked then followed them, not understanding what was going on. Had he missed something?
