Chapter 23
- TC adjusted the rearview mirror taking a peek at Mrs. Carter. She was as beautiful as she was feisty. He couldn't decide if he liked or disliked that about her. On the one hand, she didn't look like someone he could manipulate to do his bidding which was good because it meant that she couldn't be compromised. But in his line of work, he needed greedy people. People who would do anything to get what they wanted.
- He was good at finding people's weaknesses and using them against them. That was the reason he was known as the best in the field. From the moment he'd seen her, TC had known exactly what kind of woman Mrs. Carter was. It was hard not to admire her especially when she was such a beauty and he couldn't help wondering why she wasn't on good terms with her husband. Of course, she'd been gone for nine years but there had to be a reason she'd chosen to go back to him. Surely it wasn't so that her husband could take care of her.
- She was able. The background search he'd done on her showed that she was more than capable of taking care of herself and her son. The salary she got from working at Sawjen Hotel was twice as much as his. And that was saying something since he wasn't in any way poor. What troubled him most was the fact that she'd chosen that moment to come back. Carter Industries was about to sign a huge deal with Coal Shipping & co. Was Mrs. Carter aware of that or was it all a coincidence? If the deal went through, both companies would be worth billions of dollars.
