• "Define new" Emilia said squirming under Thea's penetrating gaze. She had this thing where she only stared at a person until they felt compelled to tell her everything she knew. And while she'd gone to Thea's house for advice, she didn't want to talk about the argument they'd had before leaving the house. It proved Max didn't trust her and she didn't want Thea to know that. Not after she'd made a fool of herself by renewing their vows and sleeping with him. But her friend was going to coax everything out of her before pointing out the reasons she shouldn't be with Max.
• Which was what she needed to hear but didn't want to. Love turned her into an idiot. After the night they'd had, Emilia wanted someone to tell her everything would be alright. That she wasn't building castles in the air and their issues would resolve themselves. Maybe she should have gone to Sawyer and Hendrix. They were hopeless romantics and would probably convince her Lisandra didn't exist.
