• Eloise slowly tossed to the other side of the bed, expecting to feel the familiar warmth of Vincent beside her. But the cool sheets greeted her instead. Confused, she blinked open her eyes and searched the dimly lit room for him.
• The glass door leading to the balcony was slightly ajar, with the gentle sound of the night breeze drifting inside. Her gaze was drawn outside, where he stood silhouetted against the moonlight. His broad back was to her, the tension in his posture visible from where she lay.
• Eloise slipped out of bed without thinking twice, her bare feet softly rubbing against the cool floor. She moved toward the balcony, her heart aching at the sight of him standing alone, deep in thought.
