Chapter 17 Gambino

• Seated in his lavish office, Gambino's room was filled with long shadows from the low light. Thoughts of Eloise were racing through his mind as he idly traced the edge of the polished mahogany desk. She was the only thing pure in his life, his pride and treasure. The recent news that she had been seen with Vincent, dancing closely in some dimly lit club, gnawed at him. The image would not leave his mind; the idea of his beloved daughter entangled with that man made him feel a strange mixture of fear and rage.
• He gritted his teeth, attempting to quell the mounting uneasiness. Gambino was utterly chilled by the thought of Eloise being in the company of Vincent Lucchese, a man who should not be taken lightly. He was aware of the hazardous life Vincent led and did not want his daughter to be in any way associated with it.
