Chapter 41 I Want You

• Eloise walked carefully into Vincent's room, her bare feet barely making a sound on the cool floor. She saw him lying alone on the bed, his back to her. His body was tense even when he was at rest, and the gentle light from the bedside lamp created shadows on his still form. She lingered for a moment, silently observing him, and then she moved to the bed.
• Carefully, she climbed onto the mattress, crawling closer until she was beside him. Pressing herself softly against his back, she wrapped her arms around him without saying anything. Sense the steady pounding of his heart, her hand moved up to his chest and she leaned forward to plant a warm and gentle kiss on the back of his neck.
• Vincent didn’t respond. He did not move or speak, keeping his face turned away from her.
