Chapter 43 A Death Trap

  • The cave was a gaping opening, a black hole in the earth that swallowed us whole. We walked into its depths, the only light illuminating the cave coming from a torch fixated on the wall. It cast long, dancing shadows on the rough stony walls. The air was cold and damp, and the silence was heavy, broken only by the sound of our footsteps and the occasional drip of water.
  • Goosebumps feathered my skin as I looked around. A loud sound startled us as we turned to the entrance. Immediately the last woman entered the entrance to the cave shut like a large rock had been rolled to block it.
  • “They trapped us in,” someone said behind me, her tone one of shock and worry. I couldn’t blame her…we all probably felt the same way.
