• A rap on the door sounded. “General! An urgent message for you from the Western Outpost.” It was one of her men.
• Ril’m released the king and took her mask to put it on. She motioned for the king to hide, which he did so in a corner between the wall next to the window and the closet. From there, he wouldn’t be seen from the doorway. She opened the door and took the message sent through a rixeau.
• “A barbarian spy is captured?” she murmured.
