Chapter 8

• Patrick squeezed Meghan's hand, and as soon as he felt a small spark between them, he let go as if her touch burned him. It wasn't something that usually happened to him, so he thought it must be the tension of the moment they were both experiencing.
• "So, there's nothing more to say; my parents are leaving at noon. I would like to take you home to introduce you properly," he said, squeezing her hand into a fist.
• Meghan smiled, for the first time since all of this began, she felt a glimmer of hope opening up before her eyes. Finally, the darkness she had been living in since her parents' death seemed to fade away; for a moment, a foolish and impulsive moment, she was tempted to throw herself into Patrick's arms; however, she knew it was wrong.
