Chapter 56
- The next day, without anyone bringing up the topic again, Patrick asked for his things to be moved to his grandmother's room. As that morning it had been very difficult for him to go down the stairs, he realized that he was not only risking hurting himself but also hurting Meghan, who helped him descend.
- The crutches that Renato had promised arrived after lunch, and although it wasn't easy to master them, Patrick did so by the end of the afternoon. After practicing in his room, he dared to venture out into the garden with a little more confidence. He didn't want to risk the crutch slipping on the damp grass, so he stayed where he could have a good view of Meghan and Mía. The two of them were sitting on the grass, Meghan was reading a book, and Mía was nodding along.
- Patrick smiled at the sight of them; they seemed like lifelong friends, and he somehow felt good about it. Mía needed someone like Meghan by her side. He loved her madly and forgave her mischief, but he didn't have much time to dedicate to her. His responsibilities at the hotels, the casino, and his relationship with Astrid had created a gap that he hadn't realized. And it wasn't just him; Kiara and Marcelo had their own interests as well.
