Chapter 12

• Marcelo took another sip from his glass as he watched the exchange of glances between Patrick and Meghan. She had teary eyes and her brother seemed shocked.
• "Meghan..."
• The young woman swallowed the lump in her throat, lowered her gaze, and tried to hold back the tears from running down her eyes. Patrick hadn't told her any lies, nor did he pretend to care. In fact, he had given her the opportunity to leave, but then why did it hurt to know that she was just a burden to him? The tug on her hand pulled her out of her hesitations and her pain.
