Chapter 26

• Ray came to a sudden stop when he saw Patrick and Meghan. He hadn't forgotten about Paul's sister, but when he decided to come see how he was doing, he didn't expect to come across that scene. He never would have imagined that Patrick Ferreira would be there, so he took a step back and then another until he was hidden behind a column. For a moment, he was tempted to take out his phone and take pictures of them, but it wasn't of interest to him at the moment. Plus, if photos of them at the hospital were published, it would all point to him, and the last thing he wanted was for them to realize he had been there.
• "Are you looking for someone, sir?" asked a nurse behind him, causing him to jump slightly in fright.
• "Uh, I... I want to know the condition of a patient," he said, not knowing exactly what to say.
