Chapter 100 The Card

- I was tired. The kind of tired that sat in your bones, heavy and stubborn, refusing to let you breathe properly. Work had drained me again today—too many faces, too many tasks, too many moments where I had to pretend I was fine when inside I felt like I was drowning.
- By the time I opened the door to the house, I just wanted silence. Silence and maybe a shower so hot it could burn away the day. Solenne should already be asleep. That was what I told myself as I kicked off my heels by the door and rubbed at the ache in my ankles.
