Chapter 69 Dangerous Obsession

• Lucian Ward tossed restlessly in bed, fighting for sleep that would not come. When it finally did, it offered no peace. For months now his dreams had been haunted by Mira Callen. Night after night she appeared, vivid and untouchable, teasing him with glimpses of what he wanted but could not yet have. He had a club filled with women who would gladly kneel at his feet, women who would beg to share his bed, yet it was Mira’s face, Mira’s lips, Mira’s laugh that tormented him.
• Tonight was no different. Sleep came in broken fragments, and every fragment was hers. When he had shared a meal with her at the diner, he had tried to keep his composure, but every time she lifted her fork to her mouth, his mind had betrayed him. He pictured her lips wrapped around something else, her eyes fixed on him with obedience and fire. He woke aching, his body unrelieved, his frustration sharper than ever.
