Chapter 5

  • Fallon moved from the man, throwing the scissors away. She had heard of Chris Williams. The richest businessman in the country. So why was he after her life?
  • “How did you save me?” She asked.
  • Chris took a deep breath. For a moment, he had really thought she would cut away his daddy, turning him into an imbecile at a young age.
  • “Let’s call it luck.” He replied to her.
  • “Who are the ones that brought me to the hospital?” Fallon inquired, staring at him.
  • Chris curved his lips upward. Apart from her being beautiful, there was something more that intrigues him to this lady, since when he heard them talking about her.
  • Flashback.
  • Chris had just finished clearing a lot of paperwork in his office and decided to come to check on his grandfather who was just admitted to the hospital.
  • He took large strides into the hospital, the pungent smell of disinfectant annoying him. He had always hated hospitals, right from when he was a kid. He would have loved to collect a young lady that could take care of his father but the old man kept on flirting with all of them using his money and getting them into his bed. He opened the door to meet his father flirting with another nurse. The nurse's cheek has already a touch of rosy red, making him shake his head slowly.
  • “You can leave now.” he said as he walked towards the both of them.
  • The nurse blushed profusely before carrying her kits and scurrying her feet away.
  • “You spoil everything for me son. I was just about to get into her.” his grandfather lamented.
  • “Is it until someone comes and tells you, at your age, you impregnated them?” Chris said to his father, raising his eyebrows.
  • “Then at least, I'll have another child that will be with me.” the old man said, looking at the other side.
  • Chris sighed, standing up and taking strides to see his grandfather's face. The old man turned again, making him walk back to the other side. This went on about four times before Chris gave up on it.
  • “Fine. You know I have a lot of workload, and I have to make money for us. If I don't make money, tell me, how would you be able to bring the ladies into your bed?” Chris questioned.
  • “At least you have a good point there.” the old man said, a smile on his face.
  • Chris' lips curved upward, as a chuckle found its way out of his lips.
  • “But that does not justify you not coming to see me. Is it until I die that you'll always remember me?” his grandfather asked.
  • Chris climbed to the bed, hugging his grandfather from the back.
  • “You know how much I love you, Papa.” he said, tickling his body.
  • “Chr..chris..stop..im..going..to...call the nurse to get you now..stop it.” his grandfather stuttered in between laughter.
  • Chris continued to tickle his old man until the man finally pressed the intercom. Chris did not know as he continued to tickle him. It was not until the doctors and nurses rushed in, heavily panting that he knew his man had done something.
  • “You sly..” he said, pointing a finger to his grandfather.
  • The old man looked at him and smiled. He got under his blankets, looking at the doctors and nurses like a two-year-old child that has just been maltreated.
  • “My arm hurts,” he said to the doctors.
  • Chris widened his eyes, his mouth open, unable to believe his grandfather's pretense.
  • “Please send him out. He's a nuisance to me.” his grandfather whispered to the doctor that was checking his arms.
  • The doctor turned to face Chris with an I don't have a choice expression. Chris looked at his old man who stuck his tongue out to him. He nodded slowly at him before walking out of the room. He was going to make that sly old man beg him to come and check on him again.
  • He walked to the restroom to ease himself. He had just been happy since he got here that no other business people were around, if not, he might have just landed into a huge mess. He entered the toilet when he heard the sound of whispering from the one beside his toilet.
  • “We have to give her to them.” he heard a lady say.
  • “And make her hunt us to death? I'm not interested in your plan. If you know you can do it yourself and count me out.” he heard another person say.
  • He had not been curious over other people's discussions but this made him curious. Part of the reason was that a man was scared of a female.
  • “And you think I'll give you half of the share? In your dreams.” he heard the lady say.
  • “You know how the empress is, she's going to find out we betrayed her and kill us all. I can't risk my family's life for this.” he heard the man say in a shaky voice.
  • “After this is done and we get our share, flee the country. It's not your business again.” he heard the lady say.
  • “And are you sure this is going to work?” he heard the man say.
  • Chris scoffed internally. It was obvious the man was scared out of his wits, and the woman was fearless and the empress would be the, he does not even have a perfect description for her.
  • “Yes, I'm going to her room now. Meet me there.” he heard the woman say.
  • He heard her heel steps, meaning she was on her way out.
  • “What room is she?” he heard the man ask.
  • “Last floor, she’s the only one occupying the floor.” He heard her shout.
  • They must have thought that they were the only ones in the toilet. He could hear inaudible mumbles from the man, he had not left yet and now he was praying to God to forgive him for this. Chris's lips curved upwards, it had been long, he had fun and he was dying to know the woman they were so scared of.
  • As he heard the door open, he opened his door and blocked the way of the man. The man's eyes widened in fear, he had not expected someone to be in the toilet this whole time.
  • “You, what did you hear?” the man said to Chris.
  • Chris scoffed at him, surprised by his found confidence.
  • “For a man that I heard now that is afraid of a woman, where did you throw this confidence before?” he said with a smile to the man.
  • The man looked at him, his eyes going wider than before. They were in trouble already, and he had to warn Rebecca. He could see from the dressing of the man that he was not just anybody.
  • “What do you want?” the man said.
  • Chris chuckled. “A scared man asking me what I want? Are you sure you wouldn't pee your pants if I tell you what I want?” a chilling voice sounded in the man's ear.
  • The man swallowed profusely. He had not wanted to do this, he just needed the money badly for his child's health.
  • “How much?” He heard Chris say.
  • “S..s..sir?”
  • “How much are they offering you?” Chris added.
  • The man went on his knees immediately. Tears dropping down his face
  • “I swear to God, I had no interest in this but my only child needs money for surgery and I don’t have a lot. I had no interest in this.” You should believe me. I asked the madam for the money but she had forgotten, I did not know how to go back to ask her. I beg of you.” the man said, running his hands together.
  • Chris scoffed at this. He had thought the man would be a little tough but it had turned out it was nothing. He dipped his hand into his pocket, bringing a checkbook and signing on it. He flung the paper to him before leaning to him
  • “Write any amount on this and leave. Leave this hospital immediately, and I don’t want to see you in this country again” Chris glowered at him before turning his back.
  • “And remember we never met each other.” he said before walking out.
  • End of flashback.
