Chapter 4 My Mate/My Pa

  • My Mate/My PA
  • He pushed his chair to the side letting a horrific sight come into view behind him. There were piles and piles of papers, ledgers and who the fuck knows what else strewn everywhere. I felt my fingers twitch as I looked at it. I will freely admit that I have OCD when it comes to organizing shit. Just looking at that pile of shit was giving me anxiety making my left eye twitch. I told him that I would have no problem helping him get this shit straightened out. I am sure most if needed to be scanned into the computer which would mean someone else would need to help us. I know how to use a computer and all, but I am sure as fuck no hacker or IT person. He handed me his phone after unlocking it. I linked our calendars which would also link with the calendar on my computer. I was surprised when the HR lady gave me a brand-new laptop. I smiled at him as I stood up. He was about to say something, but his phone rang at that time. I left him so he could finish his call as I returned to my office. I sat down in my chair, opening my computer. I hadn’t realized what time it was until someone knocked on my door making me jump in my chair.
  • “I am headed to a lunch meeting. I did not mean to scare you, but you seemed lost in your work, and I did not want you to go without eating.” Devon told me.
  • “Thank you. I did not realize it was lunch time.” I replied.
  • He smiled at me as he left. I let out a sigh. I am not sure how this is going to work. I knew there could never be anything between us, but it was hard when I was this fucking attracted to my new boss. I had packed my own lunch which I took out of the fridge in the corner of my office.
  • The second half of the day had gone faster than I had expected. Devon and I began to tackle the chaotic heap of shit behind his desk. We had made a decent headway when I had looked at the clock and noticed it was quarter to five.
  • “We should call it a day. It is almost time to go.” I pointed out.
  • “Yes, I agree. We can return to this tomorrow.” Devon sighed.
  • I hurried back to my office to clean things up and shut the computer down for the night. I grabbed my lunch bag and backpack. I was one of the few women that did not carry a handbag. I preferred a backpack. Devon and I took the elevator together which again tested my restraint. His cologne was making me weak in the knees. He walked me to my car which was only a few rows down from mine.
  • “See you tomorrow, Mykayla.” Devon drawled.
  • “Yes, see you tomorrow.” I told him.
  • He shut the door to my car before stepping back. He watched me until I turned out of the parking lot. I knew I was in so much trouble, but it is what it is. I locked my car as I turned towards the apartment complex. I could hear laughing as I stopped in front of the door. It made my heart happy to hear them laughing. I turned to look behind me, that weird feeling that someone was watching me again. There was no one there, which was normal. I stepped inside, closing the door behind me. Braeynia and Danique came running towards me. They were both asking me a hundred different questions at the same time. This was going to be a long night.
  • Devon
  • I knew I had a new PA starting today but what I had not expected was her scent to hit me full force as the doors to the elevator opened. Her intoxicating scent of coffee and coconut invaded my senses causing my wolf, Domnik, to lose his fucking mind. Honestly, I was slightly losing my mind right along with him. It reminded me of when I first caught her scent. Kaleb, my beta and Nash, my Gamma were beside me when I caught her scent and saw her sitting there. She was drinking coffee while reading something on her phone. She was breathtakingly beautiful causing me to stare at her. She must have felt my eyes on her because she picked her head up to look around. As soon as our eyes locked, I knew at once she was my mate. There was something about her that seemed familiar. I couldn’t think of where or when I had possibly seen her. Her scent was also familiar to me. Two younger girls came out, their arms loaded with pastries making me chuckle. They sat with her, and one placed a couple of pastries in front of my mate. This confused me as she did not look old enough to have children their age. They had to be around 13 or so. Domnik was angered by this. He was pissed that she may have children with someone else. I could feel my anger growing as well. Relief flooded over Domnik and me when one of the girls called her sister. I could see the resemblance between them once I looked closer. The other girl must be a relative as well, but she looked nothing like my mate and her sister. I smiled when she stood up. She was short, around 5 ’4”. Her long pale caramel brown hair with white blonde and a pale fiery red high and low lights cascaded down her back almost touching her ass. Her eyes were dark forest green which faded to a hazel color near the center. I had seen those eyes before, but I could not remember where. She reminded me of one of the men that I had seen as I had grown up. She had curves in all the right places. Everything about her was perfect. I let out a grunt when Nash shoulder checked me. I glared at him which caused him to laugh. I could tell him, and Kaleb wondered why I was lost in my own world. I glanced back across the street and said MATE. I knew Kaleb was irritated once he heard me say this. The look he shot me told me this. His mate’s scent had been floating around the pack lands and city since we were young. He first caught her scent when we were around five or so which no one expected, nor could they explain why he was able to catch her scent being that young. Normally we could not catch the scent of our mate until we gained our wolf when we turned 18. I knew finding my mate was just another punch in the gut to him since he had been chasing her around for so fucking long. I could see the frustration and hurt in his eyes. I told him we would find her soon and for some reason I knew it was true. I just felt that she would soon appear. I am not sure if he believed me, but he nodded as we walked across the street. With one last look I walked away from her. We had to get back to the pack. I wanted nothing more than to follow her but not today. Soon, that was all I could think. I had no idea that soon would mean today at work.
  • “Mr. Erickston are you okay?” Mykayla asked.
