Chapter 5

• ~ Asteria (POV) ~
• The next morning I woke up early and got ready to go to college. After changing into my clothes, I walked out of my room and saw my father had already made breakfast. After having breakfast with my father I kissed his cheek and left the house.
• I’m acting as nothing happened to me and I was all okay but my heart was hurting me. I feel that I’m getting weak, not only me but also my wolf was getting weak. I don’t know what happened to me suddenly but I’m feeling this weakness after Damen rejected me.
• ‘ We are getting weak because mate rejected us, and not only us Asteria he’s getting weak but because of his strength no one can notice it'’ My wolf, Ashlin, is talking to me after a long silence. She didn’t talk or react after what Damen did last night. How could he be so heartless? It was him who kissed me but he blamed me for telling me that I seduced him.
• My heart still hurts because of his words, he shouted at me and said don’t call his name ever again. My vision turned blurred as I remembered his painful remarks. Why am I so unlucky? My mate is hurting me as no one did before. I didn’t have a mother ever since I was born but my father never let me feel any sadness.
• He was a lot different than me and I also wondered if he was my real father but I knew it was just a stupid thought because he’s my real father and my everything. He loved me more than anything in this world so I thought my mate would also be the same and love me unconditionally but it was just a dream.
• Without knowing I’ve already arrived at my college. Taking a deep breath, I calmed myself and entered through the college gate. As soon as I entered the thing I saw was Damen, he was looking at me with hurt filled eyes. I can feel that he’s tired but I don’t know and I can’t get involved with him because I was just a rejected mate. I swear if he didn’t reject me I would never let him feel tired or hurt, I would love him and help him with everything but it’s just too sad because we’re just in two different worlds.
• I walked past him, I didn’t want him to feel angry or upset because he saw me. Most importantly I didn’t want to get hurt because I would be weaker if that happened. I simply walked away from him but I felt his burning gaze on me, maybe his wolf was forcing him to look at me.
• “Asteria, here you are girl” My sadness flew away as I heard my best friend's voice. She’s Erica and she was from the moon shadow pack. There were five werewolf packs and my pack was the most dangerous and biggest one. Erica belonged to the smallest pack but she became my best friend from the first time we entered this college.
• “This is for you” She suddenly gave me a little package and smiled, I took it from her and quickly opened it.
• “Woah.. is this for me?” I asked her, she nodded at me and smiled brightly at me. Then I took the little octopus plushie out. It was a dark purple toy.
• “Happy birthday” I smiled unintentionally as I heard her. Yeah, she was the first one who gave a gift to me.
• “Thank you so much Eri.” I hugged her.
• “Okay and tell me did you feel anything about your mate?” She asked me, My heart is suddenly covered with unbearable pain. I broke the hug and smiled at her.
• “I don’t think I have a mate Eri, just forget it. We're the same, you know” I caught her hand and walked towards our class. Then she squeezed my hand and looked at me with a confused look.
• “You met him?” She asked me and I nodded. Both of us shared our sadness and happiness together. We cried together and laughed together so I will never hide anything from her because she also never did.
• “He rejected me on the spot” I smiled at her and said. I knew I was smiling because I wanted to cover the pain inside of my heart. She watched me with a painful face and simply smiled at me.
• “I don’t know what kind of idiot he is. Rejecting the most beautiful girl in our college? I can say that I got rejected by my mate because I was not beautiful and I was a nerd but look at you.” Erica’s words made me laugh suddenly. She’s always like this.
• “You’re beautiful and he's a blind idiot okay?” She nodded at me with a happy smile because I scolded that man.
• “So who is he?” It was the most painful question. It would be okay if my mate was a normal boy but my mate was the guy I had a crush on.
• “Our Alpha's son” I didn’t want to tell his name because he said never call his name again so I won’t. I don’t want to be an annoying woman to him.
• “What?? What the hell? Damen? No... you’re kidding me” She placed her hands on my shoulders and started to shake me furiously.
• “Stop… stop it” Finally she stopped after making my body numb.
• “He rejected you? I can’t believe it, Asteria.. I’ve seen him staring at you countless times. I’ve never told you this but I thought he likes you” He likes me? If he likes me, why would he reject me within a few minutes?
• “He’s two years older than me, Erica, maybe it was because he found out that I was his mate.” it should be the truth and I don’t need myself to have any hopes again.
• “Is it? But… I don’t know” She spoke with a worried look. I simply nodded at her and entered the classroom.
• After our lesson I walked out of the classroom with Erica. Then I saw three girls running towards the playground. Do we have any matches today?
• “Hey what is it?” Erica asked another girl who just ran past us.
• “It’s the football match with Midfist college” Really a football match? We didn’t even know. Wait.. Damen plays football right? So he’s playing too. I sighed and looked at Erica who was already looking at me while raising her eyebrows.
• “Why don’t we go? Everyone goes” She grabbed me from my hand and started to walk towards the playground. No..
• “I don’t want to. Damen is playing. I don’t want him to see me” I shook my hand forcefully and stopped without walking with her. Then she also stopped and looked at me.
• “Why are you scared of him? He rejected me, so what? He’ll definitely suffer and regret his own choice. It’s not like there's no other guys who like you. Let’s go, just ignore him” She again caught my hand and ran towards the playground. I couldn’t help but follow her because she’s really stubborn.
• As we entered the seating area and sat, my eyes fell on Damen who was wiping his sweat from the back of his palm, his hair was also messy. I didn’t want but my heart was beating so fast because of him. Wearing black football outfit he was just so handsome. The game has already begun and no wonder why he’s so tired.
• ‘We still care about them, Asteria.. He knows it too’ I heard Ashlin’s broken voice and I hummed. I will always care even if he doesn’t want me to. Then suddenly, Damen looked in my direction. My heart stopped because he looked at me, maybe he was unhappy because I came here but I’ve watched him play ever since I was a kid.
• He clenched his jaw and watched me for a while before looking away and focusing on the game. I don’t know why he dislikes me this much, I have never done anything wrong or anything that could make him upset. Forcing my all thoughts, I averted my eyes from him and looked at Erica. I saw she was looking somewhere with pain filled eyes and I slowly followed her gaze to see her mate was kissing another girl.
• My heart ached for her, I knew her mate felt her presence but yet he was kissing that girl just to hurt her.
• “Let’s go Erica” I took her hand and spoke as she shook her head with a smile.
• “Why do I have to run away from him? If it was his choice I don’t mind but I’ll swear that moon goddess will give them the punishment they deserve for every rejection and hurting their mates” I nodded at her and smiled but I don’t want Damen to get any punishment. He rejected me and maybe everything has a hidden reason.
