• The journey to the Midnight Claw Pack felt long, even though we were traveling in cars. I sat beside Darius and my fingers gripped the edge of my seat as the trees blurred past the window. His hand was on my thigh and as if sensing my anxiety, he gently squeezed it. “What is it, baby?” he asked.
• I leaned my head on his shoulder and his arm instinctively curled around my shoulders. Why did I feel like my old home was behind me now, and ahead lay a new beginning—a place where I would be Luna?
