• The words froze me in place, my mind reeling with disbelief. Rowan? Here? It made no sense. My breath quickened as I tried to process the information. Rowan knew I was here? How? I knew from Darius that he and my father were planning something. But why didn’t he contact Darius first to seek a resolve? Why attack this pack without first contacting any of us?
• A wave of unease washed over me. How had he even found out I was here? Did someone betray my presence? And if so, who? The questions swirled in my mind, each one more unsettling than the last.
