• The next morning, I stood with Darius, Kaden, and a group of warriors at the pack gates. I was getting anxious by the minute as we prepared to leave for the Elder Council. Honestly, I was surprised to see so many pack members join us. But they looked at me, exchanged glances and then bowed to me.
• In a low voice, I said to Kaden, “Why are so many people joining us to the council?” I had a doubt that they wanted to see my downfall.
