- My entire focus was on Darius, my body locked, humming with energy. Tiara was absolutely quiet as she listened to him. I could feel her awe and respect for him. As for Rowan, he had paled like he had seen a ghost, like his castle of lies was about to crumble. My father just stared at Darius with his breath lodged in his throat.
- Darius continued, “After Liana crossed the river, she was so exhausted and badly wounded that she became unconscious. I had to leave her at Kaden’s residence because I returned to where I had found her to check if any of the enemy wolves were following her. As anticipated, there were two wolves who managed to track her.” His lips curled in a smirk as he glanced at Rowan. “Let’s just say that those two wolves never crossed the river.”
