• When Kaden burst into the room, his face pale and his voice urgent, a shiver ran down my spine. Victor and Rowan were two egotistic bastards who couldn’t accept defeat from the hands of a woman. Combined with it was the fact that I was with their archenemy. How could they digest it? Declaration of war was a blatant disobedience to the Elder Council’s decision. So it meant one thing – now they were unhinged. They didn’t care about the council’s judgment.
• Darius immediately stood, his face hardening with tension. “Call the warriors,” he commanded Kaden. “We need to prepare for battle.” Darius turned to me, his eyes filled with both concern and resolve. “Liana, stay inside the packhouse where it’s safe.”
