Chapter 9 Satisfy His Bloodlust

  • After making sure that the mix-up was sorted out, even though he still didn't show himself to his staff and just made a few calls to the manager, everything was resolved. Alessia left his office happy but with a hazy look, but just a drop of her blood had sent him into a frenzied hunger and he couldn't help wanting to feed on something warm and fresh to satisfy his bloodlust.
  • Kane had to get out of there, he had to leave his office before he slaughtered everyone there and feasted on their blood. He looked at the door to his office, but knew that he wouldn't be able to use that as his exit without being seen by someone and stopped. He looked to the window overlooking the vast and beautiful woods, deciding that it would be the perfect getaway. He opened it as wide as he could and then jumped out. He landed on his feet and immediately took off running towards the woods. Once under the cover of the trees he stopped and closed his eyes. He started listening for a heartbeat, sniffing the air for the right scent and once he found it he took off in the direction it was coming from. He ran through the woods so fast that it made the trees seem like a passing blur, but he didn't pay any attention because his bloodlust was nearly out of his control and he needed to feed. He stopped when he caught sight of his prey, a deer which was bending down to forage for food. Kane sank low, almost like a cat stalking his prey as he slowly inched closer to it and then he pounced. Kane dug his nails into the hide of the deer and sunk his fangs into its flesh, lapping up all the blood he could to feed his thirst.
  • He groaned in satisfaction after devouring the animal that now lay lifelessly on the ground. He raised his head up as his eyes changed back to their normal red, but his lips were stained with the blood of the deer. He brought out his long tongue and licked off the blood on the side of his lips, now feeling satisfied that his hunger and thirst had been quenched.
  • Kane stood up from the ground and began running through the woods, leaving the deer's body behind without bothering to bury it.

  • Alessia got home in the evening and was very tired as she walked towards the kitchen to get something to eat, but then her phone rang and interrupted her. She checked the caller ID and saw it was her mum so she picked.
  • " Hey, darling. How are you doing?! " She asked in an excited tone.
  • " I'm doing good mum and what about you? "
  • " I'm just excited. Don't tell me you don't remember what's going to happen on Saturday " her mom replied and Alessia scrunched her eyebrows in confusion. She couldn't remember anything that was going to happen on Saturday and her thoughts were hazy as she tried harder and harder to think.
  • " What is going to happen on Saturday? "
  • " It's going to be my birthday on Saturday and I can't believe you didn't remember. " Her voice sounded hurt and it made Alessia feel slightly guilty as she felt her heart tinged.
  • " I'm sorry mum. I just had a lot going on in my mind these past few days and I've been stressed out so I couldn't remember. " She tried making an excuse, in order not to make her mother feel hurt that she didn't remember her birthday, so she hoped her mother believes her excuse.
  • " It's alright. I just wanted to invite you over to the house. I would love my daughter to be with me during my birthday and I hope you could also spend the weekend over here. Please don't deny me this time. It's really important to me. " Alessia couldn't help but feel slightly moved by her mother's words and she had no choice but to agree.
  • After the mother and daughter bade goodbye to one another, Alessia decided to prepare some pasta.
  • While preparing the pasta, she thought about the man from today that introduced himself as Kane and just thinking about him made her shudder.
  • Why does his ring look so familiar?! Why does she feel he isn't a human? His eyes. Remembering his eyes, her knees trembled, those eyes were so creepy and yet enchanting. He and Marcus were both attractive.
  • Her mouth opened wide as she just realised what she had done, she had just compared the two strange men she had just met within the same week. At the thought of that, her cheeks reddened and she made a mental note to herself to stop thinking about them.
  • Alessia's mind drifted to the promise she had just made to her mother and she couldn't help, but regret it. She had made a vow to herself never to step foot into that house, where all her nightmares began, ever again. She shook her head in an attempt to not think about the past and just face her fears. She knows that If she continues running away from her fears, one day it would come hunting her and she would be unable to escape from it. So thinking about it, she thought it would be a good idea to spend the weekend at the house where her childhood began.
  • The moment Zelda walked into the kitchen, she met Alessia with a smiling face.
  • " Why do you seem so extremely happy?! " A smirk appeared on her lips, as she fetched herself a glass of water.
  • " Nothing important. My mum's birthday is on Saturday and I need to go to our house to spend the weekend with her. " She groaned, slightly.
  • " I thought you said you were never going to step foot in that house after the last incident. " She replied, gulping down the water.
  • " Yeah, I did. My mum insisted I come, and knowing fully well it has been years since I last saw her, I couldn't just reject her so I accepted. " She said as she stirred the pasta, " Besides, it will be better I go and face my fears than running away from it. " As she said, Zelda gave a friendly smile as she nodded her head to her friend's words.
  • " I'm so proud of you. " She squealed happily.
  • "Stop being so dramatic, Zelda. Since when did you stop getting proud of me. " She teased
  • " Shut up, I'm going to go change my work clothes into my sweatpants. " She replied and walked out of the kitchen, leaving Alessia alone.
  • Alessia suddenly felt a shiver run through her spine, her uncanny feeling pervaded her stomach. She suddenly felt strange, like, like something was about to happen…
  • To be continued...
