Chapter 96
- All he got in reply from her was a rhythmic grunting. It sounded like "Uh, uh, uh. Oh, oh, oh. Uh, uh, uh" repeated. He supposed it was her way of coping with the pleasure she must be experiencing.
- Liam left her to it, closing the door behind him, and making his way cautiously to the top of the stairs. Now to make his escape. Collecting jewellery was out of the question with someone threatening to gain entry at any time. He needed to get out quick, unseen and untraced. He wasn't too worried about the significant specimen of DNA he had deposited upstairs, since it needed a sample from himself to cross-check against before the police could trace him, and he hadn't given one.
- From the landing he tried to see if the person he had heard earlier was still around or not. After a short time, he heard footsteps down one side of the building going to the back. Now was his chance to get downstairs and to a window on the opposite side of the house to exit. Not wanting to be seen existing the front door, he made his way to what seemed to be a home office or den, and slipped open the catch on the window.
