Chapter 112

• Just as Slim was about to go towards the door to investigate, there was a loud crash as the door itself splintered from its frame and flew into the workshop. The stunned workshop crew watched as a number of well-built young men stormed through the opening, brandishing baseball bats and hockey sticks.
• Instinctively the remaining workshop crew members reached for bars, spanners and wrenches, ready to defend themselves, while Slim stood tall, hefting his wrench in his hands, ready to use it as a weapon. The new arrivals, about a dozen of them, gathered inside the doorway, spreading out slowly and making threatening gestures with their make-shift weapons, but without approaching the greasy gang.
• Another crash sounded at the back door, which had similarly exploded inwards. A second group of similarly armed young men had forced entry into the back, cutting off that route of escape.
