Chapter 6 A Meeting With Alaric
- ~ Ronan ~
- “Her name is Elara. She was imprisoned by Kieran and she needs our help,” I added.
- Marcus frowned, his gaze shifting to Elara’s pale face. “Why did you bring her here, Ronan? You know the risks.”
- “I couldn’t leave her there, especially when Thorne and Lucian were reluctant to help her out,” I said, my eyes blazing with determination.
- “What has Alpha Thorne and Alpha Lucian have to do with your mate?” Marcus asked, looking confused.
- I sighed, “She is important, Marcus. More than you know.”
- Marcus looked at me for a moment, then nodded. “Very well then. We will take her to the pack’s hospital and let the pack doctor take care of her. But you need to explain everything to Alaric, I’m sure he will be curious about her.”
- Alaric was the pack’s elder. He overseas every decision that is made by me and guides me through my duties as an Alpha. Even though Elara was my mate, I had to explain everything to my subordinates and know what the final decision will be.
- “Thank you, Marcus,” I nodded in relief. Elara was safe now, and I couldn’t help but feel the sense of hope as it flooded within me. I had the urge to do whatever it took to protect Elara. I knew that the real challenge was just beginning to come into limelight.
- Soon, we arrived at the pack’s hospital. I carried Elara inside , my face etched with concern. Dr. Liora, the pack’s doctor, was apreach waiting for us. I had used my mind link to reach out to her and inform her about an urgent situation. She quickly ushered us into a private room, her eyes scanning Elara with professional precision.
- “Lay her down here,” Dr. Liora instructed, her voice was calm and reassuring. I did as I was told, placing Elara on the examination table. Dr. Liora began her assessment, her hands glowing faintly with healing energy. Every pack had only one pack doctor who harnessed the healing energy to heal wounded pack members. There were nurses to help them out with taking care of patients too, but the healing energy was only reserved for the pack’s doctor.
- After a few tense moments, Dr. Liora looked at me. Her eyes were looking doubtful for the first time since I’ve known her.
- “What is it, Liora?” I asked with fear.
- “She lost her wolf. She does not have the ability to heal on her own,” Dr. Liora replied sadly.
- “Her wolf is dead?” I murmured, almost feeling devastated.
- “Not dead, Alpha, but she is not responsive. Her wolf must have shut her out when something tragic happened to Elara,” she replied.
- It was Kieran’s rejection that must have triggered Elara’s wolf to shut her out. I clenched fists as my anger was rising, this was all Kieran’s fault to begin with. This was why Elara was looking miserable in that dark cell after spending a night in that place, she had no wolf to warm her up. I was angry, but this was not the right place to vent my anger at someone.
- “Will she be okay?” I asked. Elara’s safety and well-being was what matters to me.
- Dr. Liora smiled, “She is going to be okay. Her injuries are minor and she is very exhausted, but with a good healing hands which are mine by the way and a proper medication, her recovery process will be smooth regardless of her being wolfless.”
- I didn’t realize that I was holding my breath for a long time until I let it out. “Thank you, Liora.”
- Just then, the door opened and Darius, the Gamma entered, followed closely by Lysander, who is the Pack’s scout. Their faces looked grim when they entered but softened slightly when they saw Elara and her poor condition.
- “Ronan, we need to talk,” Darius said, his tone was urgent. “Elder Alaric has called for a meeting.”
- Apparently, Marcus must have mind linked Alaric and informed him about what was going on. However, the meeting was necessary for us to make.
- “Liora, take proper care of Elara tonight. Lysander, keep an eye on her and let me know when she wakes up,” I instructed.
- “Yes, Alpha!” They replied in unison.
- I, Darius and Marcus made our way to the meeting room where Alaric was waiting. The elder’s expression was stern, his eyes were filled with concern.
- “Ronan, this is a mistake,” Alaric began, his voice heavy with authority. “Keeping Elara here puts the entire pack at risk. We cannot afford to harbor her.”
- I took a deep breath, steadying myself. “Alaric, I understand that you are concerned about our pack’s wellbeing. But Elara is not just anyone, she is my mate. She has a deep connection to me - to us. I can’t turn my back on her.”
- Alaric’s eyes twirled in confusion. “To us? What do you mean by to us?”
- I sighed. This was the toughest part of the whole story. “Elara is not only mated to me, she is mated to Alpha Thorne and Alpha Lucian. She is an omega and she lost her wolf after being rejected by Alpha Kieran.”
- Alaric slammed his hand on the table in alarming anger. “Is this some sort of a joke to the moon goddess? Why would she be repeating a forbidden history?”
- My eyes lit up when I heard what Alaric said, “Forbidden history?”
- “Interesting,” Darius said and Marcus leaned closer to listen as well.
- “It happened centuries again. During the times of the ancient packlands, a werewolf was mated to three Alphas. But it ended in a disaster, the Packlands were divided and the ancient packlands went extinct. This cannot be happening again,” Alaric explained.
- “We can prevent this disaster from happening again. All we have to do is to know what caused the disaster,” I said, trying to be positive, although my heart was beating fast. I can’t imagine what will happen to us if another disaster should occur.
- “She tried to be with the three of them and at the same time. We can’t keep Elara here, she must choose between one of the three Alphas but until then, you have to return her to Silverwood Pack where she belongs,” Alaric said.
- I shook my head in objection. “I can’t take her back to Silverwood Pack. Elara is too weak, she has to be strong and even retrieve her wolf first. I don’t want to ruin her life, she has suffered enough.”
- Alaric’s eyes narrowed. “And what of the dangers that she would bring to us? The enemies she would attract to our pack? Allow her to be Kieran’s problem for the meantime.”
- I met Alaric’s gaze steadily. “We are strong enough to protect Elara and ourselves from dangers and harm. Elara’s presence here could also bring us valuable allies and information. We just need to think strategically.”
- There was a long pause and Alaric was in deep thoughts. “Very well then. But you must promise that you will not mark and claim Elara as your mate until she makes her final decision on who to be with. Also, No one can know who she truly is. Elara’s true identity as your mate must remain hidden and a secret known to only the people inside the walls of the packhouse.”
- “I understand completely. I don’t wish to cause a commotion in my pack by declaring Elara as my mate. Thank you for accepting to keep her with us,” I said happily.
- “I only agreed because she is your mate and you have to strengthen your bond regardless of the circumstances surrounding your connection. But know this: If her presence endangers the pack, I will not hesitate to take action.” Alaric said sternly and walked out of the room. Darius followed him behind.
- Marcus came closer to me and patted me on my shoulder. “We’ve got a long way to go in getting to know more about your mate. I’m glad you finally found her.”
- I smiled broadly, “I can’t wait to get to know her, Marcus and everything she loves.”
- Marcus nodded, “You will. But first, you need to get enough rest. It has been a very long day for you, Alpha Ronan.”
- I yawned loudly. Indeed, I was tired from the strenuous activities of today. I could finally rest now that I am certain that Elara is in good hands. I felt a renewed sense of determination. I will protect Elara and prove to Alaric that she belongs to our pack.
- Yawning again, I stretched out my arms and body lazily. “Truly, I need enough rest. I need to be strong enough to face the real challenges that are coming up.”
- I went to my room and took a hot bath before slumping on my bed to sleep. All night, I dreamt about Elara and our happy ending.
