  • The adrenaline hadn’t worn off yet, my pulse still thrumming in my ears as I walked off the arena floor. My body felt heavy, like every muscle was protesting after that fight with Star. My breathing was shallow, but at least I was still breathing. I had won the first round. I should have felt proud - relieved, even - but all I could think about was the next fight.
  • The crowd’s cheers were still ringing in my head, but now, away from the chaos of the ring, there was a quiet that made my nerves even more noticeable. I found myself pacing as we reached the waiting area, unable to sit still.
