- Ender's jaw dropped to the floor. He stared deep into my soul with his dead-panned eyes, and I almost choked on my saliva, not because of his pair of eyes that were castigating me but because I could not believe that something like that had come off my lips.
- Stealing everything from Candice? I have been doing that my entire life and what do I even mean by that question of mine? I-I don't know. I wish he could just forget about it. They were nothing but a slip of the tongue and intrusive thought. It is not like I will purposely put Candice in danger.
- "Let's not keep everyone in the jet waiting, Ender. Let's go," I said to him, trying to divert his attention to a different topic. I knew that it wouldn't be easy for him to forget about it, but Ender was kind enough to just let it slide.
