Chapter 5 A Predator

  • KAELIN
  • I observed her, with my heart thumping loudly in my chest, praying she wouldn't deny this, accuse me of tricking her. I realised what I did was bad. I took advantage of her vulnerability, but that was the only way I knew I could get her.
  • From the time George started his tricks on her, I had watched them, keeping her safe when necessary and waiting for her to break, enough to seek me out. I wasn't banking on that, though. LYLAH had always been a stubborn one, and I thought she would leave the country just to avoid George.
  • Though I had that thought, I had the contract prepared, waiting and praying for her to seek me out, and she did. The prey willingly walked into the den of the Lion. I could only do what a predator would; corner the prey.
  • “Kaelin —”
  • “You want my help, don't you?” I stepped around her, smirking as I reached to touch her hair. She stilled when she felt my hand on her, but she didn't draw back.
  • Feisty. I love that. Breaking through her walls would be the most thrilling adventure ever.
  • “But —”
  • “It's a win-win, stepsister. You get to take everything back from George and I get my satisfaction… I'm not asking much from you, am I?”
  • “Six months? Six bloody months, Kaelin.”
  • “It's not even enough,” I leaned down to whisper, loving the way she shivered despite the strong front she was putting.
  • “What does being your pet involve?” She turned to look at me, her cheeks flushed. Seems she's getting affected by my proximity. Her eyes were dilated, and her breathing was a bit fast, even though she tried to keep it calm.
  • “We are both adults, Lylah. Of course, you know what I want.” My eyes roamed from her head to her toes before I snaked my tongue out and licked my lower lip.
  • “You want to have sex with me?” She blurted, her eyes wide, like she was just realising what I wanted from her. I had figured she knew what it was when I mentioned the pet word.
  • Oh, my innocent, Lylah. How sweet it would be to break through your naivety and innocence. Smiling, I nodded.
  • “You…. You can't be serious!” She stuttered, regaining herself at the end, with her eyes narrowed, her mouth upturned in disgust.
  • “I have never joked, Ly.” I reached for her hair again, but she slapped it off and drew some steps away from me.
  • “I'm not doing this anymore.” She shook her head, her lips trembling. “This is all wrong. Coming to you, kneeling when you asked, and signing that ridiculous thing? It was all a damned mistake. I take it all back. I don't need your aid.”
  • “Oh, you do.” My lips lifted in a smirk as I drew a step towards her, loving the way she tried to put some distance between us, like the cornered prey she was. “The second you walk out of this place, George will have you. You know how powerful he is, don't you? I'm the only one who can help you.”
  • She opened her mouth to speak, but closed it when she realised I was speaking the truth.
  • I had never lied to her. Even though she didn't know it, and always thought the opposite, I had always told the truth. Except for my feelings for her.
  • “You see, stepsister, I'm the only one who can pull this off. All I ask for is six months as my pet and I will sort everything out.” I stopped in front of her and reached for her cheek, but she slapped my hand off.
  • “Why?” she muttered, her lower lip still trembling. “Why are you doing this? I know we don't share the same blood, but we lived together. In the law's sight, this is taboo.”
  • “Maybe I love the thrill.” I leaned down, so I was eye level with her. “You should have known by now. I love challenges, and you, Lylah, had been a challenge from the first time we met.”
  • Okay. I lied.
  • For the first time, I lied to her. I didn't just love the thrill, I love her. I fucking love my stepsister so much. It scares me to think of what would become of me if she ever discovered my feelings.
  • Would she use it against me? Be repulsed by my affection, or disappear? I couldn't risk it just to know how she would react to it.
  • “Six months?” She whispered, so low that she didn't want me to hear it, but I did.
  • “Yes, six months. You have my words.”
  • Of course, all I need is six months to show her what it means to love, to shower her with affection outside the bedroom while taming her inside it.
  • At the end of the six months, I intend to make her want to stay.
  • “Okay.”
  • I blinked, startled by the word. “Okay?”
  • “I agree with it.” She drew some steps back and reached for her shirt, unbuttoning it as she kept her gaze fixed on me. “When should we start? Now? Let's not waste time.”
  • I couldn't react at first, too stunned to do that. I could only watch, wide-eyed, as she unbuttoned her shirt and threw it on the floor. My eyes immediately went to her covered breasts, to the flesh I had imagined how they would look and feel.
  • For the first time, I was speechless. I didn't expect Lylah to actually agree this readily. I had thought she would fight this, but she surprised me by actually doing this.
  • I gulped, watching as she unzipped her slacks and stepped out of them. My hands clenched into fists and I bit my lower lip so hard, I almost drew blood.
  • It was happening. Finally, all my planning was paying off. However, when I looked at her face, into the eyes of the only woman I had ever loved, I knew taming her wouldn't be easy.
  • It was obvious with the way she gritted her teeth as she shed her clothes. LYLAH hates my guts more than she did before.
