Chapter 29 Terrified By His Kindness
- The next morning was the same. Kielan woke me up with breakfast in bed, almost doting on me to the point of suspicion. I couldn't refuse the food, though. The impression he left on me last night was still strong. He might be all rainbows and smiles, but I had this fear that he might revert to that monster who, I thought, was out for my blood.
- Fear and confusion swirled inside me, threatening to overflow. I felt like I was staring at a stranger, a person capable of… I didn't know what, but it scared me. His kindness terrified me more than his heartless side.
- He drove me to work, smiling and humming to the music on the radio. My fear became stronger. Kielan had never been like this, at least not if he didn't have an ulterior motive.
