Chapter 4 Hill Rogers: Nyssa's Solo Mission

  • In his luxurious office, Gregory paced back and forth, his face contorted with anger. He grabbed his phone and smashed it against the wall, the pieces scattering across the floor.
  • “What does she think she is?” Gregory seethed, his voice echoing in the empty room. “How dare she cancel our engagement? She has no right. Only I have the right to reject her.”
  • He slumped into his chair, seething. “She’s always been too independent, too defiant. I thought I could control her, but she’s just like her mother. Stubborn and ungrateful.”
  • Gregory clenched his fists, trying to calm himself. “No one rejects Gregory White. No one. She’ll regret this. I’ll make sure she comes crawling back, begging for forgiveness. She’s nothing without me.”
  • The next morning, at the base, Nyssa was deeply engrossed in her work. Her team moved around, preparing for the day's training session. Alex, the new captain, stood nearby, planning the activities.
  • “Alright, team,” Alex called out, “we’re heading to the mountain for training today. Let’s get moving.”
  • Liam, eager to impress, quickly responded, “You got it, Captain!”
  • Ethan, ever the jokester, smirked. “Liam, you sure you’re not just excited to show off in front of Ava?”
  • Liam blushed, scratching the back of his head. “W-what? No, it’s not like that.”
  • Ava, pretending not to care, rolled her eyes. “Yeah, right. You’re always trying to show off.”
  • Sophia chuckled. “It’s true, Liam. Remember that time you tried to climb that tree to get a bird’s nest for Ava?”
  • Liam groaned. “Don’t remind me. I fell and got stuck halfway up.”
  • Ethan burst into laughter. “Yeah, and we had to get the ladder to get you down. You’re hopeless, man.”
  • As they reached the mountain, Alex started the training exercises. Nyssa joined in to support her team, pushing them to give their best.
  • “Alright, team,” Alex instructed, “today’s focus is endurance and teamwork. Pair up and let’s get started.”
  • Liam quickly paired up with Ava, much to her feigned annoyance. “You always do this, Liam.”
  • Liam grinned. “Can you blame me?”
  • Ava couldn’t help but smile a little. “Just try not to mess up this time, okay?”
  • Ethan, partnering with Sophia, called out, “Hey, Liam, try not to fall off the mountain this time!”
  • Sophia giggled. “Yeah, we don’t want another rescue mission.”
  • As they trained, Alex kept a close eye on Nyssa. He noticed her strict yet supportive demeanor with her team. “She’s different than I thought,” he muttered to himself. “Strict but caring. What made her change?”
  • During a break, Ava found herself alone with Ethan. He nudged her playfully. “So, Ava, you going to admit you like Liam yet?”
  • Ava sighed, her cheeks flushing slightly. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
  • Ethan grinned. “Oh, come on. It’s obvious. You admire Alex’s talent, but you’ve got a soft spot for Liam.”
  • Ava bit her lip. “Maybe… but I can’t let him know. He’d get even more insufferable.”
  • Ethan laughed. “True. But you should give him a chance. He’s a good guy.”
  • Ava nodded, a small smile playing on her lips. “Maybe one day.”
  • hings right. And she wouldn’t let anyone take that away from her.
  • As they were talking and joking, Ava glanced at Liam, who was busy laughing at one of Ethan's jokes. She couldn't help but smile. Maybe it was time to give him a chance, she thought to herself.
  • Ava leaned in closer to Liam, nudging him playfully. “Hey, Liam, maybe next time you try to impress me, you could avoid the whole falling-out-of-the-tree thing?”
  • Liam blushed, but his eyes sparkled. “I’ll try my best, Ava.”
  • Ethan, noticing the exchange, grinned. “Looks like someone’s finally warming up to our boy Liam.”
  • Ava rolled her eyes but couldn’t hide her smile. “Oh, shut up, Ethan.”
  • Suddenly, David, one of the senior officers, approached Nyssa with a serious expression. “Nyssa, we have a new mission selected by the high command. It’s urgent, and they need someone with your reputation to lead it.”
  • Nyssa’s demeanor instantly shifted to serious. “What’s the mission?”
  • David handed her a file. “It’s called Hill Roger. Two teams have already lost their lives attempting it.”
  • Nyssa nodded, her mind already racing with plans. “Thank you, David. I’ll inform the team.”
  • She gathered everyone in the briefing room. “Listen up, team. We have a new mission, and it’s a tough one. Hill Roger. Two teams have already perished there. We need to be prepared and stay focused.”
  • Liam raised his hand. “When do we leave?”
  • “Tomorrow morning,” Nyssa replied. “Get some rest tonight. We’ll need to be at our best.”
  • That night, Nyssa sat alone in her room, the weight of the upcoming mission pressing down on her. She remembered her past life, the difficult missions she had led, and the scars they had left behind.
  • “This mission is dangerous,” she murmured to herself. “But I’ve faced worse. I won’t let my team down.”
  • Her thoughts wandered to the time she took a bullet for Liam. She touched the scar on her shoulder, a reminder of her dedication to her team. “I’ll do whatever it takes to keep them safe.”
  • The next morning, the team gathered, ready and determined. Nyssa addressed them with a steely resolve. “This mission is unlike any we’ve faced before. Stick together, watch each other’s backs, and we’ll come out of this alive.”
  • Ethan cracked a joke to lighten the mood. “So, who’s up for a little stroll up Hill Roger?”
  • Sophia chuckled. “As long as we don’t encounter any more trees for Liam to fall out of.”
  • Liam groaned, but his smile showed he appreciated the humor. “I’ll try to stay grounded this time.”
  • As they prepared to leave, Alex approached Nyssa. “Hey, want to grab a coffee before we head out?”
  • Nyssa, appreciating the gesture, nodded. “Sure, Alex. Let’s go.”
  • They found a quiet spot in the mess hall. Alex looked at Nyssa with admiration. “Your spirit is something no one can match. You’re a good captain.”
  • Nyssa smiled, feeling a bit more at ease. “Thank you, Alex. That means a lot coming from you.”
  • Alex sipped his coffee, his expression turning serious. “But I noticed a few weak points in the team. Liam’s a bit impulsive, and Ava tends to be too cautious. We need to balance that out.”
  • Nyssa nodded, taking mental notes. “You’re right. I’ll work on that. Thanks for the input.”
  • Alex grinned, trying to lighten the mood. “Hey, no problem. Just doing my part to make sure we don’t all end up in a ditch.”
  • Nyssa laughed, feeling her tension ease a bit. “You always know how to make me feel better, Alex. Thanks.”
  • Later that night, Nyssa stood alone, staring at the moonlit landscape. Her thoughts were heavy with the upcoming mission and the memories of her past.
  • “I won’t let history repeat itself,” she vowed quietly. “This time, I’ll make sure everyone comes back.”
  • Just then, Alex found her again. “Hey, you okay?”
  • Nyssa turned to him, forcing a smile. “Yeah, just thinking.”
  • Alex nodded. “Well, stop thinking so hard. We’ve got this. You’ve got this.”
  • Nyssa chuckled. “Thanks, Alex. I needed that.”
  • The next morning, the team was ready. Nyssa gathered them one last time before they set out. “Remember, stay sharp and stay together. We’re a team, and we’ll get through this as a team.”
  • Liam, trying to lighten the mood, joked, “And no falling out of trees, right?”
  • Alex watched the team with a sense of pride. “You’ve built a strong team, Nyssa. They’re ready.”
  • Nyssa nodded, feeling confident. “Let’s do this.”
  • As they set off for Hill Roger, the team’s camaraderie and determination were palpable. Nyssa knew they were facing a tough challenge, but with Alex’s support and the team’s unity, she believed they could overcome anything.
  • Nyssa already had a plan in mind as she led her team through the forest. She ordered them to move more freely and as the hours passed, everyone remained calm. By nightfall, Nyssa knew it was time to implement her strategy.
  • “Alex, take command and lead the team inside the hill,” she instructed. “I’ll stay outside to handle things here.”
  • Alex looked at her, sensing there was more to her plan, but he nodded. “Understood, Captain.”
  • The team, now under Alex’s command, moved efficiently through the hill. Ethan, always the joker, whispered, “I wonder if there’s a prize for the first one to the top?”
  • Sophia laughed. “I bet it’s a tree for you to fall out of.”
  • Ethan smirked. “No more tree jokes, Sophia. Let’s focus.”
  • Liam, trying to lighten the mood, added, “Just keep your eyes peeled for anything shiny. Maybe we’ll find treasure.”
  • As they cleared the hill, cracking jokes and maintaining their spirits, Alex couldn’t shake the feeling that something was amiss. He remembered the determined look in Nyssa’s eyes earlier and realized she had a different objective.
  • “Everyone, listen up,” Alex said. “I think Nyssa sent us here to distract us. We need to head back and help her.”
  • Ethan frowned. “You mean she’s out there alone? That’s not like her.”
  • Sophia nodded. “Let’s go. We can’t leave her alone.”
  • Meanwhile, Nyssa moved through the forest like a shadow, silently and swiftly. She had identified the enemy bases and was now taking them down one by one. Her movements were precise, and her aim was deadly accurate. She dispatched the enemies with the efficiency of a seasoned warrior.
  • As she fought, her thoughts were focused on keeping her team safe. “Just one night,” she murmured to herself. “I can handle this.”
  • Nyssa’s superhuman-like agility and strength were evident as she took out each enemy. Her style was fluid and almost dance-like, each movement a testament to her training and determination.
  • As the team approached Nyssa’s location, they heard the sounds of gunfire and explosions. Alex led them with urgency, his concern for Nyssa growing with each step.
  • When they reached her, they saw Nyssa walking calmly towards them, her silhouette framed by the moonlight. Behind her, the forest was ablaze with fire and the sounds of explosions echoing in the night.
  • Ethan’s jaw dropped. “Wow, she looks like a superhero. I think I just fell in love with my captain.”
  • Nyssa’s fellow team members exchanged amused glances. Sophia whispered to Liam, “Ethan’s always falling in love. What’s new?”
  • Liam grinned. “At least he’s consistent.”
  • Alex approached Nyssa, his face a mix of worry and anger. “Why did you risk your life like that? Don’t you know it was too dangerous? What if something had happened to you?”
  • Nyssa met his gaze steadily. “I knew what I was doing, Alex. It was necessary.”
  • Everyone was shocked to see Alex so emotional, but Ethan, always the peacemaker, started cracking jokes to lighten the mood. “Hey, Alex, I think you’ve got some competition. Nyssa’s got fans now.”
  • Sophia chimed in, “Yeah, who knew our captain could be such a badass?”
  • The team laughed, the tension easing as they exchanged knowing glances. They had a unique way of communicating with their eyes, a testament to their strong bond.
  • Later that night, as they sat around a campfire, the team couldn’t stop talking about Nyssa’s heroic actions. Alex, still worried but also proud, sat beside Nyssa. “You really are something else, you know that?”
  • Nyssa smiled softly. “Thanks, Alex. But we’re a team. We all play our parts.”
  • Ethan, ever the comedian, raised a toast. “To Nyssa, our fearless leader and part-time superhero!”
  • The team cheered, their spirits high despite the challenges they had faced. They knew that with Nyssa leading them, they could overcome anything.
