Chapter 13 A Misguided Birthday Surprise

• The moon hung low in the night sky as Nyssa received a critical call from her higher-ups. “Report to the office immediately. Your life is in imminent danger. There’s more to this threat than we initially thought.”
• Nyssa's pulse quickened. Despite the urgency, she couldn’t shake the feeling of unease that gnawed at her. Just as she was about to prepare for her departure, a noise outside her room caught her attention. Instinctively, she switched off her light and slipped out into the hallway.
• Using the wall for support, she climbed to the ceiling, her movements as silent as a shadow. From her perch, she saw four figures in bizarre, hooded attire stealthily entering the house. They looked like a troupe of medieval villains on a mission. Nyssa’s heart pounded. If they were here to harm her, she needed to act fast.
