Chapter 69 Morning Light

  • Rachel POV
  • The soft morning light slipped through the gaps in the curtains, bathing the room in a warm, almost golden glow that seemed to caress the walls. It was early, the clock barely ticking past seven, but my body could no longer cling to sleep. I’d been awake for a while, lying on my side, phone in hand, texting Bonnie as the world outside slowly stirred. The silence of the house was comforting, broken only by the distant chirp of a bird and Jeremy’s deep, steady breathing beside me.
  • He slept facing me, his expression relaxed, the worry lines that had creased his face last night now softened by sleep. His brown hair fell messily over his forehead, and there was a serenity in him that made me want to reach out and trace every contour of his face. Yesterday, the fight over Celine had pushed us to the edge—harsh words, heavy silences, and a tension that felt like it could snap us in two. But in the end, we talked. We cried. And when he pulled me into a tight embrace and said he loved me, I knew that, despite everything, we were still on the same side, fighting for the same future.
