Chapter 89 Confronting Dominick
- For the next few days, Via doesn’t get a chance to confront Asher. She does see him around, but Elizabeth is always lingering near him, her arm wrapped around his in a hold that could be nothing less than possessive. She would look over in Via’s direction and smile at her—not mocking or taunting, but kind and friendly—which was even more infuriating.
- Via liked to think she was rather level-headed, but maybe it was because she’d never been in love before. She used to think Jess was crazy for fighting over her then-boyfriend, Tyler, last year—only to be dumped by him afterward. Jess had cried so hard her eyes had been bloodshot for weeks. Via had been there for her, consoling her and refusing to hint at how foolish Jess had been. Fighting over a man was ridiculous, demeaning, and thoughtless. Via would never stoop so low.
- But now, as she stood by her friend’s side and watched Elizabeth acting all cuddly with Asher on the open balcony, she felt the urge to sink her claws into the woman’s pale neck and just rip something out. For the first time ever, Via wanted to bite someone until they bled. She also wanted to cry. This felt like betrayal. She had come all the way here for Asher—how could he do this to her? He was supposed to... supposed to like her too, right? Why? It was so unfair!
