- I saw the anger expression clearly imprinted on the two women's faces. Mrs. Zara didn't look pleased to see me serving Darlington, but I didn't care. I was enjoying every bit of it and waited for Mrs. Ifeoma's reaction as I knew that she was going to explode soon. Once she came back into the house and after escorting her friend away, I wished I could go outside and eavesdrop on their conversation, but seeing that they were out of sight and Darlington looked hungry, I dashed into the kitchen to dish out a bowl of water for him to wash his hands.
- "Samuel, I am neither your wife nor maid, and this food, I actually serve it for myself," I said to Darlington as I finally walked out of the kitchen with the bowl of water in my hands and approached him to serve the water.
