• As Damien's car pulled up to his new home, I felt unease settled in the pit of my stomach. This place, so far removed from the familiarity of Maverick's mansion, felt foreign and unsettling.
• Damien tried to engage me in conversation, but I found myself unable to muster more than a few forced, monosyllabic responses. The tension between us was palpable, and I couldn't help but feel a lingering resentment towards him for the way he had spoken to me back at the house.
