• Once again, Travis felt in control, measuring up to Hernandez, who was slightly taller. They were discussing their golf game, while Courtney and Jessica were in the kitchen. Moments later, the ladies rejoined them. Jessica was smiling, but Courtney's expression was solemn—a fact that didn't bother Travis. He knew he had stirred the pot, and lunch was over anyway.
• "The food was indeed fantastic," Hernandez commented. "You must've been a world-class chef in your past life?" Both men chuckled, and Jessica joined the laughter, though Courtney managed only a faint smile.
