Chapter 7 In The Middle Of Everyone

  • POV
  • Luna couldn't shake off from her head everything strange that was happening to her at that moment. It was as if the world around her had stopped spinning correctly.
  • She didn't understand any of what was going on. The flickering lights, the anger she felt at that moment, and how everything dissipated when she calmed down. Not to mention the figure that appeared during her shower. What was that?
  • I can't believe I'm hallucinating. That I've inherited my grandmother's schizophrenia.
  • Yes, everyone always said that Anastasia, Luna's maternal grandmother, was crazy. That she saw things that didn't exist, to justify the oddities she spoke of, even though many in the family knew of the woman's clairvoyant abilities.
  • Elisa knew the truth and prayed that this "affliction" wouldn't reach her, but her fear extended to Luna. What the woman didn't know was that her fear was becoming real, only Luna had no idea of the family inheritance and believed she was going crazy.
  • When the driver dropped her off at the school gate, she was still trapped in her darkest thoughts, trying to understand what was happening in her head.
  • With her headphones playing a melancholic melody, something she loved, she entered the lobby, with her books in hand, until she was hit by a huge, muscular body that made her drop everything she was holding.
  • She stumbled forward, almost falling, then, as she regained her balance and looked up, she saw Adrian, who was also distracted, but he didn't seem apologetic for bumping into the girl.
  • "Girl, are you blind?" He said, harshly.
  • "You're the one who bumped into me." Luna took off her headphones and stared at him, her eyes burning with fire.
  • The two stared at each other for a while. Adrian saw something deep in those green eyes that fascinated him. The anger was the least of it; he enjoyed provoking the girl. He found her strange, with her upturned nose that didn't make her back down or fear him, very different from most there.
  • "You're the one who appeared in front of me." He avoided the fiery eyes because he thought Luna was trying to read his thoughts, and he wouldn't keep up that façade if she found out he had a certain fondness for her. "You should be more careful."
  • She laughed, mockingly. Adrian narrowed his eyes.
  • "Sorry, Mr. Hunk." It was sarcasm. So much so that he seemed confused. It was the first time someone dared to do that near him. "You own all of this, every square meter, so no one can be in your way, but I have some bad news for you" Luna didn't realize she was getting closer to him, staring at him up close. Close enough to feel his warm breath. "I'm not like those idiots who worship you." Adrian wasn't as irritated as he thought he would be when challenged by someone. "You're a spoiled brat who has everything in his hands, however, know that I won't bow down to a jerk like you, Mr. Bolton."
  • Time slowed down when he smiled. She stared at those thick, sexy lips when he did. She was so enchanted that she forgot where she was. Until Mary Ann arrived, freeing them from that moment.
  • "Luna" She said, looking embarrassed. When the girl looked around, all the students were staring at them, curious, impressed, and surprised.
  • She felt a pang of despair, but she composed herself and moved away from him.
  • "Have a terrible day, Adrian." She said, before squatting down to pick up her things and leaving.
  • As she climbed the stairs, the curious looks were still on her. Something the girl hated. Mary ran after her, keeping her company.
  • Inside, the girl was proud of her new friend. No one had ever done something like that to Adrian. People there were hesitant or afraid to confront him. His family was very influential, consequently, he was too.
  • "Luna" She ran to get closer to her classmate. "You stood up to Adrian Bolton."
  • Luna rolled her eyes as she reached her locker and said:
  • "So what?"
  • "He's Adrian Bolton." Mary leaned against the lockers, next to hers, and drifted off in her thoughts. "Everyone worships him here."
  • "Everyone except me." She pointed. "I don't think people worship him." Interestingly, Adrian pointed down the hallway. The atmosphere was still heated; the students were fervent, whispering. Luna, again, stared at him. This time, conveying all her hatred in that look, just like he did, who made a point not to take his eyes off her. Even as his teammates joked about it next to him. "I think they're afraid of him. Adrian Bolton is a jerk."
  • Adrian, with his sharp hearing, heard what she was saying, as well as the beating of her heart, which sped up as he approached.
  • The boy gave a proud smile. He discovered that Luna really got nervous in his presence. Downstairs, he thought it was just the heat of the moment, but despite the still heated atmosphere, she let slip this secret.
  • Another thing he noticed was her perfume. Subtle. She seemed to dislike strong scents, which was good because Adrian also had a keen sense of smell, and it would be unpleasant to be near her, just like the other girls.
  • "Oh man" His idiotic friends pushed him, getting his attention. "The girl stood up to you and left, like a trained puppy."
  • The joke displeased Adrian. Analogies like that made him furious, even if the jerks didn't know why.
  • Adrian stared at the boy, who laughed at the joke, without noticing his friend, and when he did, he found dark, brown eyes, narrowed, emitting an uncommon rage that truly frightened him.
  • "What did you say?" Adrian was volatile. Much of it was due to his origin. Even more so close to the full moon, near his complete transformation. "Repeat it!"
  • "Man, it was just a joke." He explained.
  • "If you make another one, I'll rip your tongue out." He warned, hitting the locker, making a loud noise. It even dented it a bit. Everyone in the hallway saw. Including Luna.
  • Adrian left, still very upset. He liked the thrill of being challenged. It would excite him, but being the butt of jokes didn't.
