Chapter 26 A Werewolf's Journey To Control
- "You're very distracted," Melissa said, observing her pensive son. Adrian didn't even notice her watching him, despite knowing his mother was very perceptive. His mind was preoccupied with what had happened, with what Luna had said.
- He believed in her mystical powers and felt truly compelled by a force greater than himself to attack the girl he wanted to protect. Adrian had no idea why he felt such a strong urge to protect Luna. It was an instinct beyond the beast within him. At that moment, he didn't dwell on what had happened in his mind. It seemed he had calmed the beast and taken its place effortlessly. The problem was that someone had used his transformation and anger to attack Luna. It meant that anything and anyone, whether witches or not, could enchant and control him, causing him to hurt the people he loved the most.
- Adrian hated being the coward. He wasn't raised for it. His father was a very strict man, though mostly wanting to protect him. Adrian needed his approval. To be a good wolf, to participate in the pack, to be the next leader, to succeed his father in the company. It was a lot for a boy about to turn 18. He had a lot on his shoulders. The pressure his father put on him only added to his anxiety, pain, and fear. All Adrian wanted was to disappear, to have a day of peace. But that was impossible. He was a Bolton, and the Bolton family never had a moment of peace. When he wasn't worried about the full moon and its effects on him, he was worried about Luna, who always insisted on putting herself in danger. It was so exhausting, especially since he had to hide all of this from his family, which required even more strength and logical thinking to come up with the best excuses he could give to anyone.
