Chapter 7 Are You Guys Willing to Marry Each Other?

  • A few days later, after the maids called for Katherine multiple times when she was in her room for too long, she reluctantly left the room.
  • A black Bentley was parked outside the door, and Daniel was sitting in the driver's seat with an expressionless face. A chilling aura emanated around him.
  • When Katherine saw him, she gripped her purse tightly and walked stiffly toward him. Just as she opened the backseat door and was about to climb in, Daniel sneered at her. "Where do you think you are sitting? Am I your driver?"
  • Hearing his words, she didn't know what to say since she hadn't thought about that. She was just trying to stay away from him as far as possible.
  • After closing the door, she climbed into the passenger seat. Just as she was done fastening her seatbelt, Daniel stepped on the pedal and drove the car. The car accelerated with such speed that she was unprepared and hit her head against the seat. At that moment, she realized that he was also being forced to marry her.
  • On the way to the Civil Affairs Bureau, none of them spoke to each other; Katherine was scared to talk while Daniel was upset. During the entire ride, he radiated a cold aura that could be felt throughout.
  • When they arrived at their destination, the staff member looked at them. Katherine and Daniel were both good-looking and seemed like a perfect match. However, both of them were grumpy as if they were here to fight rather than get married.
  • "Are… Are you guys willing to marry each other?" the staff member asked doubtfully.
  • Hearing the staff member's words, Katherine lowered her eyes and pouted. "I… I guess we are," she mumbled.
  • Then, the staff member looked at Daniel, who looked like he was in a terrible mood. "Yes," he said while gritting his teeth.
  • When the staff member heard their answers, she didn't know what to expect. Then, she said, "I can't approve your marriage certificate if you guys are in this state."
  • When Daniel heard her words, he looked at his watch and clicked his tongue. Then, he ordered Katherine coldly, saying, "Tell her that you are willing to marry me, and say it like you mean it."
  • Katherine knew that she wouldn't be able to ignore him, so she repeated her answer, "Yes, I'm willing to marry him."
  • Then Daniel impatiently tapped the table with his fingers and said, "Did you hear her? Hurry up."
  • The staff member couldn't do anything more and could only approve their marriage certificate.
  • When they walked out of the Civil Affairs Bureau, they both had a certificate in hand. Daniel tossed the marriage certificate to his car and turned his head, looking at Katherine coldly. "Are you happy now? You set this up for so long and have finally become Mrs. Fowler," he said.
  • When Katherine heard his words, she didn't feel sad. She wondered if she was immune to his snarky comments after her dignity had been raked through the mud once again.
  • "If that's what you're implying, so be it," Katherine replied faintly. Then, instead of entering his car, she didn't look at him and walked toward the sidewalk.
  • While they were doing the procedures earlier, she had ordered herself a cab, and it was on its way. She knew that Daniel despised her and hated the fact that she was sitting in his car. Hence, she didn't want to cause more trouble. As a matter of fact, she nearly froze to death due to his chilly aura on their way there.
  • Looking at her slim figure, Daniel snorted and ignored her, driving his car away. When he drove past her, he sped up on purpose, causing her session hat to be blown away by the wind.
  • While picking up her hat, Katherine glared at the car and cursed, "What a childish guy!"
  • After her cab arrived, she didn't return to the Fowler Residence and asked the driver to send her to the hospital instead. It had been a long time since she had last seen Elana.
  • When she entered the ward, Elana was sitting on the bed. "You're here, Kathy." Elana had a gentle smile on her face.
  • Katherine walked over, placed the fruits she had bought from the greengrocer, and sat by the bed. "How are you feeling, Miss Anderson? Do you feel any better?"
  • "Same old." Elana smiled with a sense of calmness from accepting her own fate. "After all, it can't get any worse, nor can it be better, right?"
  • "Of course, it will get better. Today's medical technology is cutting-edge!" Katherine looked at her haggard face and held her hands. "I have asked someone to contact a medical team from abroad, Miss Anderson. They are specialists who'd be able to treat this illness! They will be here within the next two days."
  • "Silly child, you have done so much for me. You don't need to push yourself too hard!" Elana caressed her hand and looked at her adoringly. "I wish that you live happily before worrying about me! You don't have to waste your money and time on me. Your adoptive parents would be unhappy about it."
  • Hearing her words, Katherine decided not to tell Elana that she had left the Newman Family. She was worried that Elana would give up on treating her illness since she felt guilty and blamed herself for it.
  • "Don't worry! They are nice to me and treat me like their own. They are also supportive of your medical treatment. Moreover, it was my adoptive father who contacted the medical team himself, so just relax!"
  • "Really?"
  • "Yes!"
  • At that moment, Elana's eyes reddened and said, "Thank you, Kathy."
  • Katherine leaned against the woman's shoulder gently and said, "I should be the one thanking you. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have made it until today. If you hadn't found me and brought me back to the orphanage when I was left out in the drain as a baby, I would have frozen to death or been eaten by dogs. If that happened, I wouldn't have had the chance to live anymore. Hence, that makes you my savior, and I am deeply grateful for having you. With that being said, I can't watch you die from cancer."
  • After leaning against Elana for a while, she straightened her back since she was worried about putting pressure on the woman. Then, she said, "By the way, where's Joshua? Isn't he around?"
  • Elana looked at the door and smiled, saying, "Oh, speak of the devil—here he is."
  • Listening to her words, Katherine turned around and saw a man limping while carrying something in his hands.
  • Joshua was in his thirties. He had milky white skin and looked incredibly handsome. Unfortunately, there was a long scar mark from his left ear to his nose, damaging his beautiful features. With the scar on his face, he looked like a broken angel.
  • When Joshua saw Katherine, his clear eyes brightened, and he walked faster toward them. "Kathy!"
  • "Slow down, Joshua," Katherine couldn't help but remind him when she saw him limping over.
