Chapter 11 You Can’t Mess With Mrs. Fowler

  • Katherine wasn't the least bit sympathetic about Joyce's situation; the woman ended up like this because of her own actions, after all.
  • Also, Katherine wasn't so important that Daniel would take back his words because of her.
  • She knew her own worth.
  • "Sorry, I can't help you."
  • "You—"
  • Joyce glared at her, then suddenly shouted and swore, "You wretch! If it weren't for your spoiled acts, Mr. Daniel wouldn't have fired me! You brought all this upon me, but now, you refuse to put in a good word for me, eh? You're a wretch who can't even present herself properly, so don't think you can really rise to power after having the Fowlers' children! You're nothing but—"
  • Hearing that, David instantly changed his expression. He hastily called for the two gardeners outside the door. "Hurry! Come and cover her mouth, then throw her out!"
  • Joyce was forcefully dragged away in her sputtering rage. David let out a sigh of relief, then smiled apologetically at Katherine. "Mrs. Fowler, are… are you alright?"
  • Katherine nodded, then took the cat and moved to go upstairs.
  • "Mrs. Fowler."
  • David called her and smiled, saying, "Even though Joyce's attitude is problematic, she does have a point. It's not ideal to keep pets around you when you're pregnant. If you don't mind, why don't you let a servant take care of your cat for the time being?"
  • "Never mind." Katherine lowered her gaze at the little creature trembling in her arms. "I want to take care of it myself. Don't worry, as long as you don't try to secretly throw it away, I'll try not to carry it after giving birth to the children."
  • Noticing that she was obviously upset, David didn't dare force her.
  • After what happened just now, he finally realized that Katherine may look like a soft rabbit, but in reality, she wasn't someone to be messed with.
  • If the little rabbit was threatened enough, it might turn into a little cat and scratch people up!
  • After Katherine went upstairs, David coughed and swept a stern glance at the servants around him, warning them, "I'll only say it once, so listen carefully. Mrs. Fowler is now pregnant with the precious children of the Fowler Family. Her physical and mental health is of utmost importance, so everyone here should do your best to serve her! If I find anyone still smoking and drinking in the Fowler Residence, doing anything suspicious, going against the family in secret, or pissing Mrs. Fowler off, you should know what will happen from Joyce's example!"
  • "Understood!"
  • Katherine placed the cat back in its bed, then went to the bathroom. She emerged again after a shower and a change of clothes.
  • "Meow!" Mimi crouched on its bed, crying out innocently when it saw Katherine.
  • Katherine kneeled down in front of it. Seeing this unfortunate little fellow, she felt that it had gotten its rotten luck from her, and it had never lived peacefully for the past six months.
  • She thought that by taking it in, it wouldn't have to stray anymore, but unexpectedly, it had to suffer along with its owner.
  • "Oh, you…"
  • She couldn't help but sigh, her finger poking Mimi's pink nose. "Just stay put and don't go out in the future. Otherwise, someone might see you and grab you outside to be thrown away. When that happens, I won't be able to find you again!"
  • "Meow!" Mimi didn't understand its owner's worries, mewling as it tried to jump onto her body.
  • "Don't move!"
  • Katherine pressed down its active little head. "Before I get my load off me, you're not allowed to climb on my body, you hear me?"
  • She was earnestly training the cat when her phone vibrated twice.
  • She picked up her phone. David had sent her two photos via WhatsApp.
  • They were photos of the ultrasound she underwent at the hospital last time.
  • Perhaps noticing her bad mood when she went upstairs just now, and fearing that it might affect the children in her tummy, David had sent her the photos on purpose so that she would be reminded of the children's existence.
  • Katherine tugged at her lips sarcastically and casually tapped on the photos.
  • Then, she froze.
  • Frankly speaking, she had never wanted to keep the children from the start.
  • Fearing that she would be unwilling to part with the children after giving birth, she steeled her heart and never even looked at the ultrasound image.
  • Also, her tummy hadn't grown too big, and the two children were usually quite nice to her, so she almost forgot she was pregnant save for the occasional morning sickness.
  • Seeing the two little popcorn-like shapes in the blurry gray, it was her first time realizing directly that there were two little balls of life in her tummy.
  • Her fingers gently rubbed the screen, the corners of her mouth subconsciously turning up.
  • There are two adorable little souls in my womb right now, she thought.
  • How marvelous…
  • Katherine never thought that the two children in her tummy would rebel so soon.
  • She had just praised them for being nice to her in the afternoon, but at night, they began torturing her rebelliously.
  • Katherine hurled and vomited in the toilet, feeling that even her bile would exit her mouth next. In the end, after all the vomiting, she helplessly leaned to the side, her face ashen pale.
  • "Fine, you guys win, I surrender! Please just stop torturing me, okay?" She poked at her tummy exhaustedly, negotiating with the two babies.
  • Of course, the two children couldn't respond to her.
  • When her stamina had recovered a little, she got up and brushed her teeth, then weakly went back to the bedroom.
  • On the small bed beside the huge one, the servant who was supposed to be taking care of her snored loudly.
  • She had caused such a huge stir, but this servant didn't even notice.
  • She envied the servant for having such a good quality of sleep.
  • Katherine sighed and decided not to wake the servant. She took her mug and went downstairs for some water.
  • When she arrived at the entrance of the dining room, her footsteps slowed subconsciously.
  • The dining room was well-lit, and Daniel was seated at the dining table, slowly enjoying the pasta on the plate.
  • Behind him, a female servant looked terrified. "Mr. Daniel, is there really nothing I can do? Shall I prepare some fresh juice for you?"
  • The man didn't even look up as he spoke, his voice cold as usual. "No. Just leave."
  • "Oh…"
  • The female servant hesitated, then doubtfully walked outside.
  • When she saw Katherine at the entrance, she was stunned. "Mrs. Fowler?"
  • The man's hands stopped what they were doing, and his dark eyes swept over her.
