Chapter 17 I Should've Seen It All I Could That Night!

• Katherine came to the door of Daniel's room and hesitated for a moment, but in the end, she still knocked on the door. "Are you there, Mr. Fowler? I have something to give you. Mr. Fowler?"
• Even after some time, there was still no reply from inside. With a frown, she thought, Is he not inside?
• She tried to push the door open, but she didn't expect that it would open so easily. In fact, the door was not locked; it was left ajar.
• She stuck her head inside and saw that the lights were on in the simply decorated room, but it was empty. Daniel was nowhere to be found, but the shirt he had taken off was on the bed.
• Seeing that, she looked in the direction of the bathroom. Oh, he's showering.
• At this moment, Katherine sneaked inside, planning to just leave the ring on the table and leave the room quickly.
• Yet, just as she put the ring down and turned around to leave, she couldn't help but look in the direction of the bathroom again. If he's showering, why is there no sound of water flowing? Is he having another episode again?
• Daniel's vulnerable look in the storage room just now was engraved in her mind, making her treat him as a weak person who was going to collapse at any time.
• Out of curiosity, she stopped at the door of the bathroom and put her ear carefully on the door, trying to listen to what was going on inside.

• During that ridiculous night two months ago, the light in the room was not on, and she was so nervous that she didn't open her eyes at all. So, this was the first time she had seen his body so clearly.

• With his black eyes looking down, Daniel looked at her coldly. "What are you doing?"
• "Don't take this wrong! I-I thought you had another episode again. I was worried about you, so…"
• When she faced him, she was always feeling guilty uncontrollably. So, she diverted the topic awkwardly. "By the way, your room's interior is magnificent. Simple yet lovely. It clears people's heads just by looking at it, right? Ha… ha…"
• However, when her eyes met with his cold, dark eyes, she didn't know how to continue, so she stopped this awkward conversation immediately and pointed at his table. "You dropped a ring just now. I came here to return it to you. It's yours, right?"
• The man's gaze followed the direction of her finger and landed on the table. His silver ring was lying quietly there.
• Seeing that, he gave her a hum of acknowledgment and used the towel to wipe his wet hair as he walked in the direction of the bed.
• Subconsciously, Katherine followed behind him to apologize for what had happened earlier. "Um… Just now, downstairs, I shouldn't use you to go against Linda, no matter for what reason. I'm sorry! I know you don't like to be used by anyone. I promise that I won't repeat the same mistake again."
• At this moment, the man in front of her suddenly stopped walking, after which she bumped right into him. "Ouch…" She covered her nose, which was in pain from the knock, and looked at him in confusion.
• Daniel turned around and looked at her with a poker face. "Are you done?"
• As Katherine blinked, she nodded blankly.
• "Get out if you're done."
• He used his thumb to hold the side of the towel, looking as though he was going to push it down. From the corner of his eyes, one could see that he was going for an evil tease. "Or… do you want to stay here and see me change?"
• When she heard that, she looked at his thumb on his flank, and her cheeks turned red instantly. "N-No, thanks. I'm leaving!"
• As soon as she left the sentence in the room, she had already sprinted out of the door. She even ran so fast that one of her slippers was left inside.
• Seeing that, Daniel felt his temple twitching. How can she run so fast? Wouldn't that harm the baby in her? Wait, what does this have to do with me?
• As soon as he realized that he was actually caring for the baby in her, his gaze turned intense, and his face darkened.
• Just as he was about to take off the towel, the door was slightly opened again.
• Katherine pushed the upper half of her body inside and gave him an awkward wry smile before picking up her flip-flops, which had been left by the side of the door. "Um… I'm just taking my flip-flops. I really won't come in again. Don't worry, and get changed. Sorry for bothering you!”
• As soon as she said that, she retracted her head quickly and disappeared at lightning speed.

• Katherine was taken aback by this, as she had eaten all three of her meals in her room since the day she moved into the Fowler Residence.
• After all, this was not her home, so she didn't feel at ease in the dining hall. Only her not-so-big space could bring her a little security. She felt much more comfortable having her meals in her room.
• Robert had never said anything about this either.
• Why did he suddenly ask me to go downstairs to have dinner?
• Just then, Linda popped into her mind.
• From what the maid said, he had three sons, but they didn't live in the Fowler Residence anymore. They all moved out a few years ago and were living in their own homes.
• Of course, other than Daniel, his other two sons had sons and daughters, so they would still return to visit Robert. They would even stay there for a few days occasionally.
• Did he ask me to go downstairs to welcome Linda back home and have dinner with her?

• Hearing that, Katherine sat down quietly while Linda glared at her. When she recalled this scheming woman embarrassing her in front of Daniel and the others, the anger in her was going to explode. How was it possible for her to have dinner with Katherine peacefully?
