• I stared down at the baby still in my arms. My heart was full and I was happy.
• I was ready to be a mom, and I was more than ready to do it with Ryan whom I stole a glance from next to me. I was between these two men, fully dressed for the surprise birthday party. We had told Hendrix we were going out and gave him a lift since he had taken a drink or two while in the house.
• Blue had taken an afternoon nap and had needed a change after he woke up. I had ran all the way to Hendrix in horror only to watch with intense interest as he changed the diaper with such ease. It wasn’t even disgusting as I thought it would be. Blue had been all happy and kicking feet. Both Ryan and I watched, not missing a damn thing, internally taking notes. We instinctively stared at each other and I wondered if the same thought ran through both of our minds. We definitely had to take baby classes. If it were up to me, I would already be registering. I couldn’t wait for our next doctor’s appointment next week. I snuck my hand to Ryan and squeezed his. We would finally know the gender of our baby and start decorating their room. I could just imagine her growing up in the room, changing it from a nursery to a toddler’s room then through the stages until our baby got married.
