• Alaric was standing under a pink cherry blossom tree when a maid approached him. She immediately went on her knees and bowed, “My King, the demon princess is here. She is sitting with your father and the Wolf King in the eating area.”
• “I see,” Alaric whispered. He had been standing under the cherry blossom tree since he left Mariah and the others. His heart was pained by the fact that Mariah was wronged by his mere servants, and yet he was not even allowed to properly apologize to her. To top it off, he could not even say who she was to him, all because his father would not allow it. He had thought it would be easy; that once everyone knew she was his guest, they would respect her. However, even ordinary maids disrespected her in such a manner on the very first day she was brought there. After thinking for so long and letting the cold night air calm him, he knew he must speak with his father. An auspicious day must be chosen as soon as possible; the last thing he wanted was for Mariah to be disrespected like that again.
• He teleported to the front of a door and slid it open. As expected, his father, Asher and Mariah were sitting on mats around the table. They all bowed as he entered, and the maids around went on their knees. Alaric’s eyes were stuck on Mariah; no matter how angry or defeated he was feeling, he couldn’t stop himself from being mesmerized by how she looked.
