Chapter 61 Who Is She?

• Mariah and the maidens appeared in a rundown quarter. There was no light there, and she could visibly see that the place was damaged. There were holes in the walls and cracks on the doors. The windows did not have a protective net or anything to keep insects from entering the house. A squeaking sound made her look down to see a rat running by her. She frowned, wondering if Alaric would really ask for her to be brought there? Like, what does he see her as, a beggar? Or a slave? What exactly could be his reason for having her brought there? When he spoke of a Golden Pavilion, this was definitely not what she had in mind.
• “Well, that is your quarters, demon princess, rest well,” one of the maids said, and the rest laughed.
• Hold on, Mariah thought, could it be that being brought here was these maids' shenanigans? Could it really be that this is not where Alaric had in mind for me to stay? She thought of the dragons’ attitude when they were back in her palace, this was not a way of the maids looking down on her, could it?
