Chapter 52 -The Failed Date

• Veronica couldn’t let him pick her up, so she borrowed Bruce’s car to drive herself. The guy sent her an address, and she planned to arrive at 11:30. She left at 11:10, thinking she’d be right on time.
• As she drove, she checked her makeup at a red light. Tired eyes from a rough night—thanks to Katie—were her only problem. But just as she got on the highway, traffic came to a stop. Panic set in. She reached for her phone to send a message—only to realize she had left it at the office. Stuck and unable to contact him, frustration grew as time passed.
• Meanwhile, Carlos arrived at a fancy restaurant. The staff knew him well and seated him at a prime spot. He had booked the table under Miss Vee’s name and told Veronica to ask for a table for Miss Vee when she arrived.
