• "Hello, is this Veronica Davis?" The voice on the other end was quick, almost impatient. "We're reaching out regarding a property listed under your maternal grandmother's name. The house is set to be torn down as part of the area's redevelopment project. We need you to come in and sign the required paperwork."
• Veronica’s breath caught. "Torn down? Why?"
• "The authorities have decided the area is unsafe due to the number of condemned buildings. The redevelopment plan is already in progress, and we need your cooperation."
