Chapter 31 I Don't Want Your Pity

• Lawson sat up in bed. At some point he had regained his human form and luckily this had helped the wounds close much faster. In a few days he would be for sure, recovered.
• A soft scent came to his nose, accompanied by a stronger one and both he recognized. He raised his head, knowing he was not alone.
• There, next to a window, sitting with her legs tucked up and completely asleep, on an armchair, was Raven. There was an old book next to her still open, as if he had just fallen asleep despite it being 3:00 a.m. as the wall clock showed. He stared at it for several minutes from the bed. There was something unpleasant in his chest that wouldn't go away no matter how much he wanted it to. Apparently she had run to the alpha because his scent was on her skin. But that wasn't what was bothering him at the moment.
