Chapter 86

  • Lily turned and ran toward her room, the sound of her footsteps fading quickly as she disappeared from view. The living room was left with an uncomfortable silence, occupied only by Lewis and Ethan. Lewis's eyes followed Lily briefly before settling back on Ethan, his gaze cold and firm.
  • "You never treated her the way she deserved," Lewis said, his voice low but cutting. "Never loved her never cared for her the way she needed. And now, when you're left alone, you come here again to claim her back? But it's too late, Ethan. She's not a puppet you can manipulate or control. You can't fix this."
  • Lewis's words were like jabs, each one landing with precision on Ethan's conscience. Ethan stood there, taking the verbal blows without flinching, knowing Lewis spoke the truth. He'd never been the kind of husband Lily needed. He'd hurt her in ways he could never undo.
