• Lewis sat at his desk, buried under a mountain of paperwork and reports. He had been busy all day, just as he had warned Lily he would be. As he worked, he glanced at his mobile phone, expecting to see a message or call from her. But there was nothing.
• It was already evening, and Lewis was starting to feel drained. He had three more meetings scheduled, but the thought of attending them felt suffocating. He called out to his assistant, Oliver.
